This super rare and historically important 1966 Jaguar Series 1 4.2 Coupe E-Type.
Jaguar only built two of these styles of E-Type.
These two cars were “prototypes” for the series two as the glass covered headlights were falling foul of legislation.
Its first owner when it left Jaguar was the Sixth Earl of Cawdor, giving it aristocratic connections.
It had modified quad headlamps, “shark grill’ bonnet, Koni shock absorbers, competition wire wheels Restall seats and a fully balanced engine. It still retains all these features.
Unfortunately, the Earl of Cawdor was not a competent driver and crashed and nearly killed himself in 1967. The crash was so severe that he was ejected through the sunroof. The Jaguar was then transported back to Scotland and laid to rest in a shed at his country seat where it remained until finally rescued by an Enthusiast some 15-20 years ago.
The car had rolled and was in a very bad way. The bonnet was crumpled, and tread removed completely from one rear wheel, but with a lot of patience and two years of hard work it was brought back to its former glory.
